Scotch Broth - Fishing in Scotland Style


Our very own fishing in scotland soup recipe for when you've had a day out in a boat or you've been on the hill and the cold wind blows.


Scotch Broth - Fishing in Scotland - Home Style

2 med Carrots chopped fine diced
1 med onion chopped fine
2 large sticks celery chopped fine diced
2 cloves fine chopped garlic
1 leftover roast lamb leg bone with some meat remaining
4 veg stock cubes
2 bay leaves
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil and a good knob of butter
1 cup broth mix (lentil,peas,pearl barley)soaked over night in water
2 litres of Aldershot Stock ( water )



1. Melt the butter in the oil on a med heat
2. Saute the carrot, onion and celery for 5 mins till soft
3. Add the garlic and saute for further 1 min
4. Add water, lamb bone and bay leaves simmer gently for 1 hour
5. Remove the lamb bone
6. Add stock cubes by crumbling in and stirring
7. Remove any meat from the leg of lamb & add the meat to the pot, discard the bone
8. Add drained broth mix
9. Simmer for 30 mins and season to taste

Serve in bowls with crusty bread or pour into a flask for your fishing or walking trip.
