Pike Anglers Alliance do well on Harelaw
I had a wee update on events over the weekend at Alex Cairnie's Harelaw Fishery near Nielston where he had a privileged access event for the Pike Anglers Alliance of Scotland. Saturday and Sunday produced some outstanding specimens two of which were into the high twenties.
The pike were taken on ledgered baits supplied by Gadda Baits.
The P.A.A.S. were invited by Alex as they don't have bank access on any private protected waters such as Harelaw and were delighted with what was put on offer.
Mark Wishart doubled his personal best catch with a 21lb 9oz specimen off the twin points in two feet of water that fought extremely hard for nearly ten minutes.
Rory Fitzpatrick had a beauty and a p.b. on the Moyne Shore with a huge fish at 26lb 10oz taken on a ledgered lamprey with Rory also commenting on it's incredible power.
Best fish of the event went to Andy Irvine with another p.b. achieved when he caught this lovely 26lb 150z specimen in 3 ft of water at the back of the big island.
A very succesful outing for the P.A.A.S. in tough conditions and they'll be returning in May for a one day lure only boat event.
Pike fishing ceases on March 10th except for restricted access events and trout fishing commences on 15th March. For further information, Alex and the fishery can be contacted via the fishery website or via the following facebook pages. Harelaw Fishery Website
