515lb Bluefin Tuna Caught by rod off the coast of Harris

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing but a 9ft 515lb Bluefin tuna has been caught off the coast of Harris on specialist fishing gear imported from the USA on a boat operated by Kilda Cruises after tuna were spotted chasing mackeral off the coast. A specialist tuna fisherman had been brought in to advise with fishing tactics.

It's good that herring stocks are recovering to the extent that these migratory fish are returning to our waters but possibly bad in the fact that these fish which are on the endangered list  may now find themselves targeted due their high market values in previously "safe" waters.

Having said that hooking a Bluefin is definitely one of my main ambitions as far as fishing goes.
